M.A.D.D Honor Lost Loved Ones

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —
The choice to get behind the wheel drunk has forever changed the lives of hundreds of families here in the midlands. Some say their loved ones who were killed will only live on through their continued fight to keep drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel and getting those who do behind bars.
It was a packed event full of grieving families who held pictures and in some cases held onto each other as they talked about their tragedy and how it has impacted their lives.
Advocates say Columbia Police’s new initiative soley focused on D.U.I. offenses and Highway Patrol rolling out there Somber of Slammer Campaign for the holidays will help. Still, they feel the only way to stop the problem is to keep drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel.
Law Enforcement Officials say Drunk Driving cases have increased by 16 percent throughout the state.
