SCSO: Man with machete, drugs found unconscious behind the wheel
Sumter, SC (WOLO) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrest a man they say was armed and unconscious while behind the wheel of his car and also accused of having with narcotics with him. Deputies tell us they responded to a report of a suspicious car that was blocking the roadway in the area of Alva Drive and Reona Avenue.
When authorities arrived they say they discovered 31-year-old Justin Michael Ray Worley slumped over while behind the wheel of his car while it was still in drive with his foot on the break. Deputies say they could see a machete sitting on the passenger seat next to Worley before waking him up. Once he regained consciousness, deputies say he admitted having illegal drugs, and paraphernalia on him and inside of the vehicle.
When deputies searched his car they say they discovered the drugs and arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Methamphetamine. He was additionally cited for operating an uninsured vehicle. He remains in custody at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
