15-year-old charged in connection with May apartment shooting, 3 arrested after search warrant on Willis Street
BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WOLO)– Batesburg-Leesville Police say a 15-year-old has been charged in connection with a May shooting at an apartment complex.
According to police, the shooting happened at Creek View Apartments on Willis Street.
The Batesburg-Leesville Police Department with the assistance of the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team along with the Crime Reduction Unit
executed a search warrant on June 5 on Willis Street that resulted in the arrest of the 15-year-old.
The 15-year-old was charged with 6 counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during commission of violent crime, and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
During the search of the Willis Street home, authorities found marijuana, methamphetamine and three guns, one which police say was stolen.
One other juvenile along with three adults were also arrested and charged with offenses unrelated to the May shooting.
Dewayne Lamont Johnson, 51, Zyquavis Marquis Carter, 22, and Ja’Steven Raikez Whitt, 18 was arrested.
The offenses the men were charged with are possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawfully placing a child at risk, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
