3 arrested in connection with May murder, RCSD deputies say
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says three people have been arrested in connection with a May murder.
Law enforcement say on May 31, just before 6 a.m., deputies to the apartment complex at 1050 Southern Drive in reference to a shooting that just happened.
At the scene deputies found an adult victim inside the apartment with a gunshot wound in the upper body, and he was deceased.
Investigators say the suspects left the scene before deputies arrived.
The investigation revealed that one of the suspects that was visiting along with the other suspects started an altercation with another individual in the apartment and the victim attempted to intervene, say deputies.
During the altercation, the suspect fatally shot the victim.
On June 1, RCSD investigators with the help of Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and Darlington County Street Crimes Unit arrested Jahquez Mack in Darlington, S.C.
Mack is being charged with accessory after the fact of a felony, the felony is murder.
He was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, granted a $100,000 surety bond, and released.
On June 4, RCSD investigators, SLED, and Darlington County, arrested Jayln Malik Smith at an acquaintance’s home in Darlington, S.C.
Smith is being charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
He was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is still being held.
RCSD says the owner of the home Kendall Williamson was charged by Darlington County Sheriff’s Office for harboring a fugitive.
Additionally, Yaqin Sincere Jackson was arrested on Tuesday, June 10, at his home in Darlington by RCSD with the assistance of Darlington County.
Jackson is being charged with accessory after the fact of a felony.
He was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is still detained.
