RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One person has been arrested in connection with a June 4 murder, says RCSD.
Investigators say Starshemah Jones was arrested and charged with murder, two counts of kidnapping, burglary 1st degree, armed robbery, arson 2nd degree, destruction or desecration of human remains, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and strong arm robbery.
On June 4, around 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to an apartment complex at the 2100 block of Faraway Drive in reference to a suspicious death where EMS and the fire department were at the scene.
At the scene deputies found an adult victim deceased with burn injuries inside of the apartment.
An investigation revealed that just after 12 a.m. on June 4, Jones approached the victim who was an acquaintance at his apartment and robbed him at knife point for cash and his personal belongings, say deputies.
Law enforcement says Jones returned to the victim’s apartment the same evening to reportedly smooth things over with the victim when an altercation ensued.
Jones is accused of attacking the victim during the altercation, and killing him.
She was arrested on Wednesday, June 11, in Spartanburg by RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force with the help of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and SLED.
Jones will be booked at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
