Steel tariffs to hit kitchen applicances

(CNN)– The Trump Administration’s 50% steel tariffs have threatened to make everything containing steel more expensive.

Now, the administration is set to ensure those tariffs will apply to your next fridge or dishwasher.

In a notice set to be published Monday, June16, the Commerce Department specified the recently increased steel tariffs would also apply to consumer appliances containing steel.

Starting on June 23rd, those so-called derivative products will be taxed an additional 50% for the amount of steel they contain.
