City installs misting stations at parks for upcoming Summer season
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The City of Columbia’s Parks and Recreation Department has installed misting stations at several local parks to help residents beat the heat this Summer.
The city is encouraging residents to utilize the misting stations which will operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The misting stations are available at the following parks:
- Saluda Riverwalk – 650 Candi Lane, Columbia S.C. 29210
- Owens Field – 1401 Jim Hamilton Blvd., Columbia S.C. 29205
- Martin Luther King Park – 2300 Greene Street, Columbia S.C. 29205
- Hollywood Rose Hill Park – 216 Gregg Street, Columbia S.C. 29205
- Rosewood – 901 Holly Street, Columbia S.C. 29205
- Riverfront South – 312 Laurel Street, Columbia S.C. 29201
- Riverfront North – 4122 River Drive, Columbia S.C. 29201
- Granby Park -100 Catawba Street, Columbia S.C. 29201
- Southeast Park – 951 Hazelwood Road, Columbia S.C. 29209
According to the South Carolina Department of Public Health, signs of a heat-related illnesses can range from painful muscle spasms, clammy and moist skin, and confusion or loss of consciousness.
