RCSD’s Guardians of the Night K9 5K hits the ground in July!
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is hosting an annual event to honor their four-legged partners in blue.
The Guardians of the Night K9 5K starts Saturday, July 19 at the SC State Fairgrounds, 1200 Rosewood Drive with the following times:
- Gates open: 7 p.m.
- Family run/walk (not timed): 8:30 p.m.
- Timed 5K: 9:30 p.m.
Lt. Pete Hart, Sgt. Drake Cobia and his bomb dog K9 Buddy joined Curtis to talk about how this event raises funds for the RCSD K9 team, which pay for training, safety equipment and much more.
It also honors their fallen K9s who gave their lives to protect the community.
