Gamecocks face Tennessee in key SEC battle Tuesday night

Columbia, SC– The Gamecocks are on the road, traveling to Knoxville, TN to take on No. 18/17 Tennessee for the second meeting of the season. Tennessee won the first meeting with South Carolina 70-63 in Columbia back in January.

After suffering five straight losses, South Carolina is looking for its first win for the month of February. Graduate student guard, Frank Booker continues to show up for the Gamecocks after his 17 point game in the loss to Florida on Sunday. Booker is second for his team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game trailing behind Junior forward Chris Silva who leads the Gamecocks with 14.3 points per game. Silva is now 10th-all time in South Carolina’s history with 111 blocked shots after matching his career-high of five blocked shots in the last outing against Florida.

For the Vols, Sophomore forward Grant Williams and Lamonte Turner will be players to watch. Williams’ leads UT in scoring, averaging 15.9 per game. In the last match-up with the Gamecocks, Turner led the Vols to victory scoring 25 points. Tennessee currently sits at 8-4 in SEC games and 18-6 overall this season.

The Gamecocks will look for a second straight win at Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday.
