FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the South Carolina Highway Patrol with a traffic collision on I-77 near the 45-mile marker south bound, said officials.

According to the Department of Transportation (SCDOT), all lanes on the interstate are blocked.

Law enforcement said all southbound traffic is being diverted off at Exit 48.

Drivers in the area should expect significant congestion on SC Highway 200 and River Road as drivers work their way back onto the interstate.

FCSO asked that drivers avoid the area if possible, use caution if traveling nearby, and to follow all detours, along with directions from law enforcement.
