Columbia Police: 2 people arrested in connection with breaking into vehicles

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia Police Department says two people have been arrested in connection with breaking into vehicles.

The two people are accused of breaking into vehicles and stealing personal belongings, including two firearms, in the 600 block of Candi Lane.

Witnesses told Columbia Police a description of the two men, their getaway vehicle, including a license plate number, and direction of travel.

A CPD patrol officer spotted the men’s vehicle in the Greystone Boulevard area.

Before the officer could make a traffic stop, the men lost control of the vehicle and crashed at the intersection of Broad River and Lucius Roads.

During the arrests, CPD officers recovered two stolen firearms and stolen credit cards.

The two people were identified as 28-year-old Raekwon Ford and 18-year-old Shamari Jones, Jr.

They were both taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, and charged with auto breaking, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, larceny, and financial credit card theft.

Additional arrests are pending.
