Study: Toxic chemicals found in menstrual products
(CNN)– A new study found alarming levels of “forever chemicals” in a sampling of reusable menstrual pads and panties for women.
Reusable feminine hygiene products are growing in popularity among women looking for more eco-friendly options.
But researchers detected extremely high levels of PFA substances, endocrine disruptors linked to serious health problems including cancer.
The study analyzed a total of 59 products including period underwear, reusable pads, and menstrual cups.
Researchers did not identify manufacturers but said the majority of the products were made in the U.S.
