FEMA memos lay out risks of cuts
(CNN)– The Federal Emergency Management Agency has proposed slashing nearly $1 billion in grant funding.
The proposed cuts still require approval from the White House Budget Office and Congress.
Internal memos and two FEMA officials familiar with the plans give more detail to the effect if the proposed cuts happen.
They say funding for more than half of FEMA’s emergency management and Homeland Security grant programs would be zeroed out.
It’s funding that goes to communities and first responders nationwide to better prepare for disasters.
