Heat safety tips

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– When the temperatures get this high, safety must be at the forefront.

The Red Cross says last year nearly 23 hundred heat-related deaths occurred.

To help stay safe, the Red Cross recommends postponing or limiting outdoor activities when temps soar.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, avoid sugary, caffeinated and alcoholic drinks.

Check that animals also have access to plenty of fresh water and shade.
