Midlands man sentenced for sexual abuse of minors

Lexington Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Officials with the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office say a Newberry Co. man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the sexual abuse of minors.

Officials say Trevor Oty, 22, pleaded guilty to two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree, one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in the First Degree, and one count of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor in the First Degree, on Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Lexington County General Sessions Court.

According to the solicitor’s office Oty will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Officials say on July 9th of 2024, Lexington Co. deputies conducted an investigation and ultimately determined Oty concocted a scheme to coerce victims into engaging in sexual activity which he carried out over several months.
