Mad Libs Art Show brings stories to life through art in Myrtle Beach

The opening reception for The Mad Libs Art Show at Kaleidoscope Artisan Collective kicks off Monday.

Artists filled out the comedic word game with nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Then, they brought their silly stories to life through art.

Topics range from moonwalks to Red Riding Hood to driving tips to creatures.

The artists said it was a fun way to ignite creativity and turn words into pictures, and they hope others give it a try.

Don’t be afraid that you can’t draw a character, you can’t do this,” said Kathy Strauss, artist. “We’ve seen some of the examples here where you’ve got just a giraffe or you’ve got a piece of pizza. That’s all it is, is just learning to think outside the box. And that’s what creativity is.

The Mad Libs Art Show kicks off Monday at 5 p.m. with an opening reception.

The event benefits The Arts Grand Strand nonprofit organization, which supports young artists starting their career.

The show runs through Saturday, Aug. 2 at Kaleidoscope Artisan Collective. It’s located in the Arts and Innovation District in Myrtle Beach.
