Benedict Signs 24 Recruits
COLUMBIA, S.C. (BC SID) — The Benedict College Tigers signed 24 players to National Letters of Intent, including getting seven commitments from South Carolina. Three Columbia-area signees include Tyler McAllister and Okechi Ntiasagwe from Ridge View High School, as well as 300-pound lineman Evan Reed-Mackey from A.C. Flora High School. Other state products include Jonathan Hagood from Orangeburg-Wilkerson High School in Orangeburg, Tyquan Huntley from Rock Hill High School, Marlon Washington from Hanahan High School, and Kenneth Gunter from McCormick High School. “Getting kids from South Carolina was our main focus,” Benedict head football coach James Woody said. “Our coaches did a real good job of getting out there recruiting.” Woody said they also focused on bringing in offensive linemen, wide receivers and defensive backs. “We need speed,” Woody said. “We needed speed at the wide receiver and we fulfilled our needs. At defensive back, we added depth and got some speed back there. “We’re still not finished. We’re still looking to bring in some more, but we feel good about this high school class.” The Tigers also signed four junior-college transfers. The Tigers went 4-6 in 2012. Name
