China trade talks end without deal

(CNN)– The Tuesday meeting between Chinese and American trade negotiators in Sweden ended without a deal.

The announcement means there’s no clear path forward to prevent tariffs from surging again without an agreement.

The United States and China will once again impose large tariffs on each other’s imports starting August 12th.

But in a statement to media outlets, Chinese officials said even after a deal is made, both sides will continue to push for scheduled extensions.
