Heat advisory issued for the Midlands

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for areas along and south of I-20 including the Columbia metro area.

The advisory is in place until 8pm Thursday evening.

Officials say heat indices could reach between 108-110F throughout the afternoon.

The NWS is urging people to take proper heat precautions; stay inside, stay hydrated, and never leave a child in a car.
