Electric Cooperatives Prepare for Winter Storm
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “An inch accumulation of ice, especially on pine trees and power lines, is an incredible amount of ice and adds incredible weight,” says Scott Bryant, Vice President of business development, CEE-US Work is underway at the Cooperative Electric Energy Utility Supply Company in West Columbia, one of the largest electrical material suppliers in the nation, to supply area cooperatives with the equipment they need to get you through this storm. “We’ve already shipped out several truck loads of material to the cooperatives mostly around the mid-state,” says Bryant A piece of equipment called a “sleeve” will be one of the most popular pieces of equipment used to get your power turned back on, should it go out. “If you get an inch of ice, you’ll see half the people in the affected area without power,” says Bryant And it could be quite some time before power is restored. “People could be without power for a week to two weeks possibly,” says Bryant
