SCDP releases statement after video is released of gubernatorial candidate’s arrest
Charleston, S.C. (WOLO)– The Charleston Police Department has released the dash cam video from the night attorney and newly-announced candidate for Governor Mullins McLeod was arrested.
Back in May, McLeod was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct after police say he was found downtown naked and screaming.
Earlier this week McLeod announced his intentions to run for governor as a Democratic candidate.
Wednesday afternoon the chair of the Democratic party released a statement reading, ”
Mullins McLeod is a skilled attorney, a former county Democratic Party chair who worked tirelessly for our values, and a member of a proud Lowcountry family with a long tradition of public service.
After reviewing the transcript of the dash cam footage from his recent arrest, it is clear that Mr. McLeod is navigating profound challenges and should focus on his mental and emotional well-being instead of a campaign for governor.
We offer him compassion and pray he finds the support he needs.”
