Gamecock fan scores $200,000 win on school’s scratch-off

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Gamecock fan’s optimism about his chances on his favorite team’s scratch-off ticket paid off when he became a winner, says SC Lottery officials.

The winner played a $5 Carolina Jackpot scratch-off and won a $200,000 prize.

“I’m happy,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials after cashing in the winning ticket.

He says the Carolina Jackpot scratch-off caught his eye at the Young’s convenience store on W. Clark St. in Pinewood.

After scratching his ticket outside the store, he headed back inside to scan his ticket.

When the message read to “Claim at Lottery,” he says he scratched off the rest of the card and realized the $200,000 prize was his.

He beat the 1 in 520,000 odds to win big on the Carolina Jackpot scratch-off. Two more $200,000 top prizes remain in the game.

SC Lottery officials say Carolina Jackpot scratch-offs can be entered online for a chance to win up to $100,000 in cash at a women’s basketball game this season.
