Trial delayed for former SC lawmaker facing federal child porn charges

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The trial of a former SC State Representative facing federal child pornography charges has been delayed.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office says jury selection in the trial of RJ May, which was scheduled to begin in September, will now begin on October 8th.

According to federal investigators, May faces 10 federal charges related to the distribution of more than 200 videos containing child sexual abuse material.

May resigned from the South Carolina House of Representatives earlier this month.

The Republican represented Lexington County’s 88th district.
