Batesburg-Leesville Police investigating fatal shooting

BATESBURG-LEESVILE, S.C. (WOLO)– Batesburg-Leesville Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Ash Street, say police.
The police department says officers responded to the Ash Street area after a call about gunfire being heard around 12:30 a.m.
Upon officers arriving to the location, a man lying near the roadway on Ash Street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds was found.
Public safety personnel rendered medical aid to the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries, according to the police dept.
The victim was identified as Scottrell Juarez West, 37, of Monetta by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, the shooting will be continued to be investigated.
