Driver id’d in Dutch Fork Rd fatal crash that hospitalized USC coach

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver in a crash that hospitalized a USC football coach Friday.

Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the person as Kelly M. Johnson, 35, of Columbia.

According to Highway Patrol, Johnson crossed the center line on U.S. 76/Dutch Fork Road near Chapin and struck USC Defensive Line Coach Travian Robertson’s Tahoe head-on.

Johnson died on scene, while Robertson was taken to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

Head Coach Shane Beamer said they “expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon.”

Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
