Driver arrested after traffic stop leads to deputies finding narcotics
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– RCSD says a driver has been arrested after a traffic stop where deputies found narcotics.
The traffic stop happened on Saturday, August 23, around 10 p.m. in the Greystone Blvd. and I-126 area.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department says deputies observed a vehicle speeding in the area Greystone Blvd. and I-126 and initiated a traffic stop.
Upon making contact with the driver, who was later identified as 56-year-old Darrell T. Brown, deputies say they spotted a clear jar of narcotics in plain view.
A search of Brown’s person revealed a medicine bottle with no label that was containing white in color narcotics, according to RCSD.
The white powder substance had a field weight of 10 grams and the white rock like substance weighed in at 6.9 grams.
Also, a black handgun was located when deputies searched the vehicle.
Darrell Brown was charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and felon in possession of a firearm.
He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and has since been released after being granted a surety bond.
