CRFD firefighters control Tuesday morning apartment fire, body found

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia-Richland County firefighters were able to control an apartment fire on Tuesday morning, said CRFD.

The fire department said shortly before 7:30 a.m. crews responded to a property in the 1700 block of S. Beltline for an apartment fire.

Firefighters found a fire in one room of the apartment and quickly extinguished it, according to the Columbia-Richland Fire Dept.

While searching the property, firefighters found one person was located inside the unit and the coroner’s office had to be called to the scene.

There were no other injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.
