Judge says RJ May can represent himself in federal child porn trial
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–A former state lawmaker accused of possessing child pornography will serve as his own lawyer.
Officials with the US Attorney’s office say a judge made the decision to allow RJ May to represent himself in federal court Thursday morning.
According to federal investigators, May faces ten federal charges related to the distribution of more than 200 videos containing child sexual abuse material.
May, a former Republican representative from Lexington County, resigned from office in August.
Jury selection in his trial will begin on october 8th.
