Social security call center wait times under investigation

(CNN)– A social security watchdog has opened an investigation into the Social Security Administration’s call center.

Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts asked the inspector general to look into the matter, specifically whether wait times have worsened under the Trump Administration.

She also wants to know if the public is getting accurate information about wait times, and how staffing decisions have affected the agency’s ability to deliver services, among other questions.

The Democratic senator has repeatedly raised concerns about the agency’s performance in the wake of its reorganization by the Department of Government Efficiency.
