Clemson University fires one employee suspends two others following social media comments

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says Clemson University can fire employees for comments made after the death of Charlie Kirk without facing criminal charges.
Monday the university announced it terminated one employee and removed two from their teaching duties following comments about kirk’s death on social media.
Clemson university has drawn calls from donors, students, and political leaders to remove the employees due to comments made following the murder of the conservative activist.
Wilson says while the state’s “political firing” statute provides for potential civil claims it does not create any criminal liability.
