Gamecocks coach injured in head-on collision releases statement

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– University of South Carolina Defensive Line Coach Travian Robertson is speaking out following a severe injury sustained in a head-on collision.

On August 22nd, officials say Robertson was hit head on in a car crash on Dutch Fork Rd. when the oncoming vehicle crossed the center line.

On Wednesday Robertson released the following statement through his attorney:

“Kettiany, our three boys, and I sincerely appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support we have received from the community in the weeks since my accident. It has been and will continue to be a journey, but I am grateful to God my life was spared. My current focus is on recovery and rehabilitation so I can get back to being the husband, father and coach I am called to be.”

The Richland Co. Coroner says the driver of the other vehicle, Kelly Johnson, 35, was killed in the accident.
