FAA certifies 737 Max, 787 Dreamliner safe to fly

(CNN)– The FAA is once again allowing Boeing to certify the safety of some of its own aircraft.

In 2019, the FAA had revoked Boeing’s authority to issue airworthiness certificates for 737 Max airplanes, following two fatal crashes.

The FAA made the same decision three years later for the 787 Dreamliners due to production quality issues.

But Friday, Sept, 26, the FAA announced Boeing would be allowed to issue airworthiness certificates.

However, the company will only be allowed to do so on alternating weeks.
