Whitmire school placed on Secure Alert Status after early morning fight in area

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County Sheriff’s Office says an early morning fight with shots fired caused a school to go on Secure Alert Status.
Deputies say Whitmire Community School went on Secure Alert Status on Monday morning, Sept, 29, after an early morning fight, and shots were fired on Jalapa Road.
A responding deputy saw the suspect’s vehicle and quickly detained the suspect.
The incident leading to the situation is under investigation.
The school was on alert status for only a few minutes, and was not directly involved in the situation, according to investigators.
