2 killed in overnight moped collision on US-301 in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG CO., S.C. (WOLO) – South Carolina Highway Patrol says two people on a moped are dead after a collision overnight.

Troopers say it happened on US-301 near Jernigan Drive at 2:25 a.m.

According Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, the moped & a 2021 Kia Sedan were travelling south when the Kia rear-ended the moped, causing both people to spill on the roadway.

Authorities say both victims died on scene and the Kia driver wasn’t hurt.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not released the victims’ identities as of yet.

This incident remains under investigation.
