Labor shortage could affect food supply

(CNN)– If you can’t find your favorite foods, immigration policy may be to blame.

The Labor Department says restricting new migrants and deporting current ones has led to a labor shortage.

It goes on to say that shortage has increased the risk of “supply shock-induced food shortages.”

The Secretary of Agriculture previously suggested that 34 million Americans on medicaid could fill many of the jobs left vacant by immigrants.

The Labor Department disagrees saying it doesn’t think unemployed or underemployed Americans want the jobs.
