WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The game was scoreless until the fifth inning.
Then Airport unraveled.
Chapin scored six runs in the fifth on its way to an 8-0 win over Airport Saturday night in game one of the 4A state championship series.
Gamecock commit Cade Austin struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings pitched, as Chapin moved one win away from its first state title since 2002.
Game two of the series is Tuesday in Chapin.
