Moped driver killed in collision on US-276 in Newberry

NEWBERRY CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a moped driver is dead following a collision Sunday night.

It happened on US Highway 276 near Colony Church Road at approximately 8:30 p.m.

According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, the moped and a 2010 Honda Sedan were both travelling east, when the Sedan hit the moped from behind, causing the driver to spill in the roadway.

The moped driver died on scene while the Sedan driver wasn’t hurt.

The Newberry County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s identity as of yet, as the investigation continues.
