New Town of Chapin mayor elected after former mayor’s passing

CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO)– In the Town of Chapin there was an election for a mayor after former Mayor Al Koon who served as mayor since 2021 died last month at 74 years old.

Before his death Koon had filed to run for re-election which is why his name still appeared on the ballot.

As of Wednesday, November 5, the unofficial results show Bill Mitchell Jr., as the projected winner with 68% of the votes.
