Space heater safety tips
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– With the colder temperatures here, the Columbia Fire Department is reminding everybody that if you’re using space heaters, make sure you give them some space.
Officials say if you’re using one, keep it at least three feet away from anything that can burn, like curtains, and furniture.
They also say to turn off that space heater when you leave your house or you go to bed.
There’s no denying that it’s much COLDER 🥶🥶outside!
If you plan to pull out a space heater to help heat your home REMEMBER:
✅make sure it’s ready to run! Don’t use the heater if its cords are frayed or damaged!
✅power it properly! No extension cords!https://t.co/fzVJNf71FC pic.twitter.com/KNymF2igP5— Columbia-Richland Fire Department (@ColaFire) November 10, 2025
