Trooper LaBounty released from hospital after incident
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A state trooper who was hit and severely injured by a driver in Lexington County has been released from the hospital.
Master Trooper Wayne LaBounty was released after spending six weeks recovering.
He was hit and injured while performing a traffic stop on September 9.
Jerrod Ricks was later arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
The collision that injured LaBounty was one in a series of incidents where state troopers were hit and injured or even killed while in the line of duty.
