Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– A Columbia city councilman proposes a massive change to law enforcement in the capital city. Councilman Cameron Runyan held a news conference Monday morning to call on a unified police force by contracting Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott to run the Columbia Police Department. Runyan says the move will make law enforcement more effective in the midlands. This isn’t the first time such a proposal has been brought up. In 2010, a similar proposal was voted down by the city council.
