Noise complaint led to seizure of illegal drugs, deputies say
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says a noise complaint led to the seizure of illegal drugs and firearms.
Sheriff Ravenell says just before 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Baugh Street in reference to a noise complaint.
While responding to the noise complaint, deputies found several weapons and what appeared to be marijuana in a vehicle at the location, says officials.
“We didn’t go out there with illegal narcotics in mind. We went to this location because someone complained about noise,” the sheriff says.
A search of a vehicle and an apartment associated with the vehicle turned up more than 280 grams of marijuana or nearly 10 ounces and three firearms with multiple magazines.
One suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Another suspect attempted to flee to the backyard after crawling through a hole in the ceiling of the apartment, say deputies.
“Probably one of the briefest foot chases on record. This case was simply being observant to what’s going,” Ravenell continues.
Tyshon Jefferson, 24, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute near a school, and three counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Tamir Shivers, 25, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute near a school.
