RCSD: Man arrested in relation to kidnapping, rape

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man has been arrested in relation to a kidnapping and rape, according to RCSD.
RCSD says on December 12, around 11:15 p.m., deputies responded to a call in the 2200 block of Decker Blvd in reference to a sexual assault that had happened.
Deputies met with the victim who stated that she had been sexually assaulted in an apartment in the 200 block of Meredith Square.
The victim states she was blindfolded, forced into the apartment and brutally raped.
Deputies saw blood on the victim’s fingers and zip ties on her wrists, says the sheriff’s dept.
The victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital for medical treatment.
After DNA confirmation, Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s Fugitive Task Force was able to locate 38-year-old Ernest Small and take him into custody on December 17.
Small is charged with criminal sexual conduct (1st degree) and kidnapping.
He has been booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he has been denied bond.
RCSD Investigators believe that this may not be the first time Small has committed these crimes.
