Driver dead after weekend wreck in Sumter

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– SC Highway Patrol says a driver is dead following a wreck in Sumter on Saturday.

According to troopers, before 2 a.m. on Dec. 20, the driver of a Ford Mustang was traveling on North St. Pauls Church Road and St. Marks Road when they went off the road, struck a tree, then a utility pole and a building.

The victim died on scene from their injuries.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity as the investigation continues.
