South Carolina gas prices continue dramatic drop, averaging $2.43 per gallon
(WCIV) — Gas prices in South Carolina have continued to drop in the last week, now averaging at well below $3 per gallon as of Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,028 stations in the state.
The average price of gas in SC fell 3.6 cents per gallon in the last week, for a new average of $2.43 per gallon Monday. This recorded average is 21.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stands 27.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.
“For the fifth straight week, the national average price of gasoline has declined, with all but a handful of states seeing prices move lower,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in South Carolina was priced at $2.13 per gallon Sunday, while the most expensive was $3.49 per gallon, a total difference of $1.36 per gallon.
Meanwhile the national average price of gas fell a similar amount of 4.0 cents in the last week, averaging $2.75 per gallon Monday.
The national average is down 22.6 cents per gallon from a month ago and sits 22.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
