Starbucks closing locations

(CNN)– You might start seeing fewer Starbucks shops around.

After decades of constant growth the chain is now shrinking its presence in major U.S. cities.

Starbucks plans to close about 400 locations mostly in large metro areas.

It has already closed dozens of storefronts including 42 shops in New York City alone.

That’s due to rising competition in saturated areas, remote work, and higher costs.

The company says it will now focus on fewer, stronger locations, and new designs starting in 2026.
