Newberry Co. deputies investigate weekend shooting

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry Co. deputies are investigating a shooting that happened on Swittenburg Drive in Prosperity, said the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said one person had a single gunshot wound to the lower leg on Saturday, Jan. 10, around 6 p.m.

EMS and Prosperity Rescue responded to the scene and took the person to an area hospital.

Deputies said the wound does not appear to be life threatening, and they are continuing to investigate the shooting.

Also, law enforcement said it appears the shooting took place after an argument between two individuals that knew each other.
