Target to open over 30 new stores

(CNN)– Target says it’s in the process of opening at least 30 stores in 20 states.

Most of the locations are in the South with several in Florida, Texas and here in South Carolina.

Target says it’s not providing opening dates yet, but a few stores in the project are operating already.

Long-term, the retailer says it wants to add more than 300 locations over the next decade.

The expansion comes after Target announced a thousand layoffs, and the elimination of about 800 positions in October.
