Governor’s request for federal emergency aid approved

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Governor Henry McMaster says his requests for a federal emergency disaster declaration has been approved.

The Governor’s Office made the request in a letter to President Donald Trump Friday ahead of Winter Storm Fern.

Officials say the declaration provides federal assistance for South Carolina in the form of equipment and personnel.

According to the Governor’s Office, an emergency declaration request is available when a hazard event is imminent and federal assistance may be needed.
