SCSO: Driver, passenger arrested after drugs found during traffic stop

 

 

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter Co. deputies say a driver and a passenger in his vehicle were arrested after leaving a traffic stop.

The sheriff’s office say around 11 p.m., on Tuesday night, Feb. 12, 2026, a Sumter County deputy saw a vehicle approaching with high beam lights on.

After the driver failed to dim the lights, the deputy initiated a traffic stop.

During the traffic stop, deputies say they saw an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

And the driver who was identified as Daquan Richardson was unable to produce his driver’s license.

Also, deputies say Richardson attempted to flee from them.

After a pursuit, both men were caught and taken into custody.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed illegal narcotics and more than $10,000 in cash, which was seized.

Richardson and Joe L. Isaac were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Both Richardson and Isaac were charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

But Richardson was also charged with failure to stop for blue light, and driving under suspension.

Richardson was released on bond while Isaac’s bond was denied.
